The 3 Key Components to Growing Your Business

There are, only 3 key components to growing any business:

  1. Spend time each week working ON, not just IN your business
  2. Know and use proven strategies that work
  3. Be genuinely willing to learn and change

Without all 3 of these very simple but important ingredients, having a better business than the one you currently have is completely and utterly impossible. 

Now in this blog series, I’ll help you with components #1 & #2, but as for component #3, that one is entirely up to you…….I can’t do that one for you.

Now before I talk about these Key Components, I want to clearly define what “Business growth actually is” because it’s a term that’s used a lot and it’s also a term that’s misunderstood…..a lot!

OK, so let’s clear this up. Business growth simply means improving in key areas of your business. And those key areas are, control of your business, profit and life balance. Yep……life balance should be one of your key indicators. If all you’re doing is making more money, and your lifestyle is suffering, then in my opinion, that business needs some work. 

So working ON your business is what you do to grow your business. And the indicators of growth are:

  1. The level of control you have over your business
  2. The amount of profit you make
  3. Your LIFE time

OK, So let’s talk about Key Component #1: Spending time working ON your business.

This one is simple! Set aside time each week to work ON your business. It can be as little as 1 hour per week to start off. You just need to make a start. Now one of the things you’ll want to work ON is “How to get more done in less time”. And If you’re asking the question, “How the hell do I do that” then you’re in the right place to get an answer……but I’ll get to that a bit later when I show you how to attack Key Component #2. 

Before I do though, let me remind you what the aim of working ON your business is. The aim is to spend regular time working ON strategies that will help you to get better control, make more money and be able to have LIFE time too. What you don’t want to do is just be busy working on stuff. You want to be clear that you’re working ON the right things. Lots of business owners claim that they work ON their business, but the truth is they’re just doing their job…..working IN the business. For example, sales does not equate to working ON your business…..that’s part of the job. Doing some sort of training to improve your sales technique, or better still training someone else to do sales….now that’s working ON your business. Which brings me to this. What does working ON your business actually mean? And the answer is there are 62 Business Growth strategies. So working on one of those 62 Business growth strategies equates to working ON your business.
